Perhaps you’ve always felt fawn/freeze/flight dynamics in your sexuality, but also you might notice these patterns becoming louder lately, especially as stories of sexual violence, power abuse, and systemic betrayal circulate in the news.
• Your body feels heavier, slower, more withdrawn, or even gone right now, like it's retreating from the world or your life.
• You feel anger, horror, or grief about what’s happening, but also feel overwhelmed, numb, blank, or small.
• Your desire has dimmed. Arousal feels distant, unsafe, or irrelevant. Old sexual or relational wounds are resurfacing. Or perhaps you're having flashbacks or unwanted images when engaging in intimacy.
• You’re over-analyzing, scrolling, getting consumed by social media, trying to understand everything, while your body goes into a disgust response and/or shuts down.

Many people come to this work not understanding why they feel shut down or confused about their sexuality, especially when they themselves haven't experienced what would be considered big T trauma. Here we will redefine sexual trauma as not only assault, but as anything that creates overwhelm.

From dissociation to people-pleasing, from shutdown to over-functioning, we’ll unpack how survival responses quietly organize our sexual dynamics.
These patterns have a logic and function, and when we bring awareness to them we can start making different choices.
→ Understanding over-coupling: why arousal and fear get tangled, and why that might be exaggerated right now
Because sex is activating—and trauma is activating—fear can mimic arousal.
Pleasure and shame, arousal and terror, belonging and domination, orgasm and overwhelm... there could be a whole plethora of ways in which our sexuality has become over-coupled with uncomfortable or undesired sensations, emotions, or states. We'll explore these and offer compassionate and deshaming understanding for how this might be showing up for us right now.

When it comes to your erotic impulses, pushing yourself into something "different" won't work. Shame won’t shift this. And performing empowerment won’t create change.
